Verna the daughter of Marshall Columbus and Ellen (Crafton) Hoggard. Lilburn the son of Nellie J (UKN) Newcom Weatherspoon and John H Weatherspoon his step-father.


Verna Marie-Newcom Alls, age 85 of North Little Rock, passed from this life on June 21, 2006. Verna was born on October 30, 1920 in Calamine, AR to Ellen C. and Marshall Hoggard.

Verna was a member of Pershing Penticostal Church.

She is preceded in death by two husbands, L.L. Newcom of Walnut Ridge and Charley F. Alls of Jonesboro, and three brothers.

Verna is survived by seven children, James Newcom of Sherwood, Tom Newcom of Canton MI, Elener (Newcom) Britton of North Little Rock, AR, Curtis Newcom of St Louis, MO, Nancy (Alls) Newcom of Canton, MI, Vernon Alls, of Valonia, MI, Jim Alls of North Little Rock, AR, sixteen grand children, twenty three great-grandchildren, one great-great grand child, one brother Harley Hoggard of Jonesboro, one sister Elsie Capps of Sherwood, AR, Rev. Whittington, many friends, and her church family.

Visitation will be 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home.

Chapel service will be held Monday 10:00 A.M. June 26th at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, AR 72117 (501) 835-3515.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 26th at Ward Cemetery in Strawberry, AR.
