Thomas K. Blake, Aged 78.

Sadness reigns in another home in our City, and hearts of sons and daughters are made to mourn over the departure of a father's spirit to the world of the bright Beyond, while the casket of clay lies still in death. Light foot-falls and crepes doors tell plainly the respectful sorrow and living memory the children, now grown to manhood and womanhood bear to the deceased parent.

Friday morning as the hand on the dial of time marked 2 o'clock, Death called the spirit of Uncle Thomas Blake, as he was familiarly called, to try the realities of the unseen world.

The deceased, Thomas K. Blake, was born in Roan county, Tennessee, October 22, 1813, and in 1836 he led to Hymen's altar, Miss Clara Chitty, from which union ten children were born, four daughters and six sons, of whom, T. T. Blake and Mrs. Flora Dirickson, live at this place, J. Y. F. Blake lives at Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mrs. M. E. Russel, at Bolivar, Mo., Columbus Blake at Whitesboro, Texas, and L. L. Blake at Marietta, I. T., all of whom with Mrs. H. H. Miller, of Rogers, Mrs. J. B. Reeves, of Monett, Mo., grand-daughters will be in attendance at the funeral.

Mr. Blake came to this place in 1868, and has been closely identified with the growth and upbuilding of Bentonville, the Blake hotel being built by him. He was quite well advanced in years, being 78 years old the 22d of last October, and had been feeble for some time with kidney troubles which was the direct cause of his death. He was a member in good standing of the Christian church and died in the full faith of the Christian's promise.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Christian church to-day, (Saturday) at 2:30 p.m. by Elder S. Rohrer, pastor, after which, the remains will be interred under the auspices of the Odd Fellow lodge of this city, of which he was a charter member.

THE SUN, with many friends heartily sympathizes with the sorrowing family, and would gently remind them that their loss is his gain.
