1898 - 1961
Melvin Clarence York, aged 62 of Ft. Worth, Texas and formerly of Camden died at his home at 5:00 p.m. Friday. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Birdie B. York of Ft. Worth; a daughter, Mrs. Dora Fay David of Little Rock; a step-daughter, Mrs. Richard B. Smith of Midland, Texas; two brothers, Jewell York of Smackover, and Oliver York of Baton Rouge, La.; two sisters, Miss Anna York and Mrs. Lonnie Hargett, both of Stuttgart; and by one grandson. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Westberry Church of Christ, Ft. Worth. Another service will be paid at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Proctor Funeral Chapel here, conducted by Gene Frost. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Casket bearers are, Edwin McKenzie, Lionel Harrison, Tom Slaughter, James Swann, Luther King, Doc Coston, Abner York, and Chester York. (Camden News - July 17, 1961)
