Martha is the daughter of Tom Maize and Mary Lonon Sorrells. She is the wife of Robert Baker Hargrave. Her father, Tom, is said to be half to full blood Cherokee and direct descendant of Chief Sorrellshorse of NC. Tom lived wht the Cherokke tribe in the NC mountains near the white village where Mary Lonon lived. At some point Tom either stole or eloped with Mary and rode off into the mountains with the white men of the settlement chasing them.
