HUFF, Maud BLACKBURN - Since our journalistic labors began we have performed many unpleasant tasks. We have recorded the death of several dear friends but during our entire experience we have never been called upon to chronicle a sadder event than the pathetic death of Mrs. Maud Huff. Her friends here know her not as Mrs. Huff but simply as Maud Blackburn, the light-hearted and winsome lass who spent the latter portion of her school days at this place. Her warm-hearted nature and gentleness won for her friends among her school mates until they were legion. Maud left school here in the Spring of 1888 and three months later was married to Benj. C. Huff, a promising young physician of War Eagle Mills, and on Monday morning, August 19 while yet scarcely 17 years of age, her sweet spirit took flight and sought that of her new born babe in the Heavenly home. We extend sincere sympathy to Dr. Huff and Col. Blackburn and family.
