John Richard West, 72, of Rogers, died Wednesday, April 14, at St. Mary's Memorial Hospital, Rogers. He was born Oct. 19, 1920, at Ozark, to George Dewey and Linnie Hager West. A lifetime area resident, he was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received two Purple Hearts, four Battle Stars and a Bronze Star.

His wife, Betty West, died in 1991. His son, Aaron Blane West, died in 1964.

Survivors are his son, Denver H. West of Rogers; four brothers, J.D. and Mack West, both of Rogers, Jack West of Springdale, Don West of Bentonville; a sister, Betty Williamson of Cave Springs.

Graveside service and burial are set for 10 a.m. Friday at Oakley Chapel Cemetery, Rogers, with the Rev. A.D. Martell and the Rev. Fred Agee officiating. Burial will be with full military honors. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at the Rollins Funeral Home, Rogers.

Betty Lou Cowan West, 68, of Rogers died Jan. 13, 1991, at St. Mary's-Rogers Memorial Hospital in Rogers. She was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Morning Star community, near Bentonville, to James Euwell Cowan and Lenna Leota Denver Cowan.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Rogers.

Survivors include her husband, John R. West, of the home; a son, Denver West of Rogers; five sisters, Jessie L. Cowan, Tot Gates, Ruby Lawrence and Virginia Hamilton, all of Rogers, and Nina Ford of Bentonville; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Arron Balne West, in 1964.

Graveside services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakley Chapel Cemetery by the Rev. A.D. Martell. Visitation will be today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
