DICKSON, Sophia J. MORRISON - A mother in Israel has been called to rest. On Friday evening, Feb. 10, 1905 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.W. Williams, at Lowell, Ark., after a protracted illness of pneumonia, Mrs. Sophia J. Dickson entered into her eternal rest, aged eighty-four years, nine months and twenty-seven days. The deceased was born in Bedford county, Tenn., April 13th, 1820; came with her mother, Mrs. Morrison, to this country in 1838 and was married Nov. 26, 1840 to Mr. E.J.A. Dickson, who became ruling elder in the Presbyterian church at Bentonville and preceded his beloved wife to the glory land by some 18 or 20 years. Of 7 children born of this union - 5 daughters and 2 sons - 4 daughters, Mrs. Em. Lynn of Buffalo, Ill.; Mrs. J.M. Weir of Rocky Ford, Colo.; Mrs. T.J. Vaughn of Gravett, Ark. and Mrs. J.W. Williams of Lowell, Ark. survive her. Her sister, Mrs. M.A. Phagan, the only one of twelve children, also remains to mourn her loss. Mrs. Dickson lived a consistent christian life for over sixty years. Having professed faith in Christ at old Mount Comfort camp ground near Fayetteville, Ark. she first united with the C.P. Church but upon the organization of the Presbyterian church at Bentonville she, being a Presbyterian from conviction, had her membership transferred to that church. Mrs. Dickson was a quiet, unassuming lady, loved by all who knew her. Being kind, thoughtful and sympathetic she was devoted to her friends, ever ready to help the needy and distressed. She had been in bad health for years and her last sickness was severe. Funeral services were conducted at Oakley's Chapel by the writer and her body was laid to rest in the cemetery at that place to await the resurrection morn. J.E. Wylie.
