RIDDLE, Elizabeth Frances - Elizabeth Riddle died on Thursday, February 6th, 1930 at the home of her nephew, M.W. Riddle, of Bentonville at the age of 91 years. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church in charge of Rev. A.W. Henderson and Rev. W.C. Wheat. Miss Riddle had been in bad health for the past three years as the result of an accident. She was born in Rose County, Mo. in March 1839 and resided in Vernon, Texas until she moved to Bentonville 27 years ago to live with her nephew, M.W. Riddle, and his family. She is survived by her nephew, two grand-nephews, Burton Riddle of Fort Worth, Texas and Douglas Riddle of Bentonville, and three grand-nieces, Mrs. Troy Holmes of Little Rock, Ark., Mrs. Charles DeGravelles of Morgan, La. and Martha Riddle of Oklahoma City.

Funeral services were held from the First Presbyterian Church in Bentonville Friday afternoon for Miss Elizabeth Frances Riddle who passed away at the home of her nephew, M.W. Riddle, Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. February 5, 1930 at the age of nearly 91 years. She was perhaps Bentonville's oldest woman. The services were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. A.W. Henderson, assisted by the Rev. W.C. Wheat and burial was made in the family lot at Oakley Chapel. Miss Riddle was born near Hannibal, Mo. March 18th, 1839. She lived in her native state about half her lifetime, moving to Texas in 1886 and from there to Bentonville in 1902 to reside. For 27 years she had made her home with M.W. Riddle, whose wife died young, leaving several small children. Aunt Lizzie cared for the motherless children and was as devoted to them as if they were her own. She was a life-long Christian and a member of the Presbyterian church since coming to Bentonville. Surviving are her nephew, M.W. Riddle and her niece, Mrs. J.R. Wood of Springfield, Mo., 22 great and grand nieces and nephews. Miss Mattie Riddle of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Troy Holmes of Little Rock and Burton Riddle of Fort Worth, grand nieces and grand nephew, attended the funeral.
