McSPADDEN, James H. - J.C. McSpadden received a telegram Sunday announcing the sudden death of his oldest brother, James H. McSpadden, of Rock Springs, Wyoming. The telegram very briefly stated that the death was the result of accidentally taking a dose of poison but no particulars were given and none had yet been learned at the time of our preparing to go to press last evening. The body arrived here last night and the funeral will be held today at Oakley's Chapel, west of Rogers. Mr. McSpadden had been in the west for many years, having lived in Wyoming for 14 years. When J.C. McSpadden and wife were on their western trip a few weeks ago they went to Cheyenne, Wyo. where the deceased met them and accompanied them on the homeward trip as far as Omaha. He had been home less than a week when the news of his death reached Rogers. The shock was all the greater because Mr. McSpadden and wife had left him so recently, seemingly in the very best of health. Mr. McSpadden was not married and was the oldest son of the late Thomas McSpadden of Rogers and a brother of Cal, Cole and Milt McSpadden of this city. He has many other relatives in and around Rogers and the news of his untimely death was a great grief to all of them.

Funeral services in memory of the late Jas. H. McSpadden, who died Sunday near his home at Rock Springs, Wyoming, were held in Rogers Thursday afternoon at the home of J.C. McSpadden on North Fifth street, a brother of the deceased. Services were conducted by Rev. F.E. Dodson of the M.E. church, South and interment was made in the family lot at Oakley's Chapel where both the father and mother of the deceased are buried. Mr. McSpadden was spending the night with a party of friends at a sheep ranch near Rock Springs. During the night he arose to secure a drink and by mistake drank some of the mixture in which the sheep are dipped. It was several hours before a doctor could be reached and when he arrived Mr. McSpadden was beyond relief and died in a very short time.
