GILMORE, Y.A. - Rev. Y.A. Gilmore of Conway, former pastor of the Gravette M.E. church and for years a citizen of Benton county, died suddenly Tuesday, probably from heart trouble. Rev. Gilmore was traveling in the interest of the Orphans Home of Little Rock and was found dead in bed at Ruddles where he had put up for the night. The burial occurs today Thursday - at Oakley Chapel, near Rogers, the body having been brought to this county for interment.

(from Oakley Chapel) Rev. Y.A. Gilmore of the M.E. church, South, whose home was at Conway, Ark., died Monday night at Ruddles, Ark. His remains were brought to Rogers Wednesday and funeral services were held at this place Thursday evening conducted by his son, Rev. O.T. Gilmore of Virginia, and Rev. Sherman of Gentry. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and three sons: O.T. Gilmore of Virginia; Harlin and Charles Gilmore of Conway, Ark. He was at one time pastor at this place and his host of friends were sorry to learn of his death.

GILMORE, Mattie BLOCHER - Funeral services for Mrs. Mattie Blocher-Gilmore of Conway, Ark., widow of the late Rev. Y.A. Gilmore, who died at the home of her son, Charles Gilmore, at Searcy, Ark. early Saturday morning, June 23rd, 1928 following an illness of two weeks, were held Sunday afternoon at Oakley's Chapel near Bentonville and interment made in the family lot in the Oakley Chapel cemetery The services were conducted jointly by the Rev. W.T. Thompson, pastor of the Bentonville M.E. Church, South and the Rev. J.A. Womack of the Rogers Methodist Church, South. The hundreds of friends attending the services included many from Bentonville and a large number from Fayetteville, Rogers and other towns of this section and from the Oakley's Chapel neighborhood where the Blocher family lived for many years. Mrs. Gilmore was born at Albany, Mo. in 1867, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.J. Blocher, moving to Arkansas and settling in this section in 1870 when she was only three or four years old. She was married here at Bentonville to the Rev. Y.A. Gilmore, a young minister of the gospel, in 1893. Mr. Gilmore died at their home at Conway some five years ago but much of his life was spent in Northwest Arkansas as was that of Mrs. Gilmore. The Rev. Gilmore had served as pastor of the Bentonville Methodist Episcopal Church, South as well as of other churches of that denomination in this section. Mrs. Gilmore is survived by three sons: the Rev. O.T. Gilmore, student-pastor at Brown University, Providence, R.I.; Harlan Gilmore, who is doing special research work at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. and Charles Gilmore, who is superintendent of the public schools at Searcy, Ark. She is also survived by two brothers: S.J. Blocher, who is special architect and building construction supervisor for the school board of Dallas, Texas and J.W. Blocher, Bentonville manufacturer; and a half-brother, Amos L. Spencer, a prominent farmer of near Bentonville. She is also survived by a nephew, Forrest Larrimore of Rogers, Ark., a niece, Mrs. Bessie Speaker of Pratt, Kansas and other relatives. Mrs. Gilmore's three sons and three brothers were the pallbearers at her funeral.

Mrs. Y.A. Gilmore of Conway, Ark. was buried at Oakley Chapel Sunday afternoon. She was accompanied to her last resting place by her three sons: Rev. O.T. of Providence, R.I.; Charles of Searcy and Harlan of Memphis, Tenn. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.A. Womack, pastor of Rogers M.E. Church, South assisted by Rev. W.T. Thompson of the Bentonville church. Mattie Blocher was born in north Missouri in 1861 and came to Arkansas in 1869 with her parents, Sam J. and Elizabeth Blocher, who settled in Droke community where she grew to womanhood. In 1896 she was wedded to the Rev. Y.A. Gilmore in Bentonville. Her brothers: J.W. Blocher of Bentonville; J.S. Blocher of Dallas and Amos Spencer of Droke community, survive her.
