MIDDLETON, Alexander - Funeral services for Alexander Middleton were held at the home of his brother, Lee Middleton, on South Main Street, Bentonville Saturday afternoon, the Rev. Oscar Ingold, pastor of the First Christian Church at Rogers officiating. Burial was made in the Middleton lot in the Hart Cemetery south of Bentonville. He was about 77 years of age. Mr. Middleton was born near Ash Grove, Mo. Dec. 9, 1854 and came to Benton County with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Middleton, at the close of the Civil War where he purchased the 600 acre farm of David Walker, two miles southwest of Bentonville, one of the best farms in this section. David Walker was one of the early settlers and father of Vol and Wythe Walker. The place is now owned by T.A. Dillinger. Mr. Middleton later moved to his own 80-acre farm given to him by his father. He sold his farm to his brother, Joe Middleton, about 20 years ago and moved to Springfield, Mo. where he made his home with his sister, Mrs. T.A. Nicholson, and Mr. Nicholson. Mr. Middleton was unmarried. He had been in poor health for several years. An attack of the flu from which he never fully recovered led to his death. A large number of old friends attended the funeral and the floral offerings were many and beautiful. Mr. Middleton is survived by two brothers, Lee and Joe Middleton, of Bentonville and by two sisters, Mrs. Anna Cook of Bentonville and Mrs. Florence Nicholson of Springfield, Mo.
