EPPERSON, Mabel - Mabel, daughter of J.H. and Susan Epperson, departed this life Jan. 23rd, 1900, age 5 years. On the above date, after a long and painful illness, the little sufferer's spirit took its flight back to the God who gave it and her little body was laid to rest the following day in the Hart graveyard, four miles south of town. Skilled physicians and loving parents and friends did all they could to check the disease that was so cruelly and steadily sapping the life-blood from her little body but God would not be thwarted in his purpose. A short while before little Mabel was stricken with her fatal sickness she was at play with her little sisters when she was heard to talk to them in the following manner. She said that she would soon get sick and would die; that she wanted to be buried in a little white dress with ruffles on the shoulders. She told her little sisters how she wanted her little playthings divided among them when she was gone. She soon took her bed only to too truly and sadly fulfill her childish prophecy. Had not this little one communed with God? May God's blessings rest on the bereaved family. A Friend.
