SULPHUR SPRINGS — Velma Grace Brackney Prelle, 81, of Sulphur Springs died May 30, 2008. She was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Hiwasse to Ernest and Monte May Lowe Traxel.

She was a longtime resident of Sulphur Springs and attended the First Baptist Church there. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was past Matron of Sulphur Springs Chapter 321 and past Matron of Nebo Chapter in Gravette. She was a founding member of the Sulphur Springs Improvement Association.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Brackney, and a great-grandson, Casey Murray.

Survivors include her husband, Leander Prelle of the home; two sons, Donald Brackney and Douglas Brackney and wife Patty; a daughter, June Murray, all of Sulphur Springs; four brothers, Jack Traxel of Gravette, Floyd Traxel of Bellflower, Calif., Ray Traxel of Fort Wayne, Ind., and David Traxel of Port Charlotte, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Butler Creek Cemetery in Sulphur Springs. Gary Osburn and Ray Larkin will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice; First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs; or Sulphur Springs Improvement Association.

Arrangements are by Ozark Funeral Home in Noel, Mo.
