Joe G. McDonald, age 78, of Holly Springs, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, in the V. A. Hospital at Little Rock. Born June 1, 1919 in Midland, Arkansas, he was the son of William John McDonald and Mary Leona McDonald. He was a retired logging contractor and a member of the Church of the Nazarene at Camden. He was a member of the St. John's Masonic Lodge No. 38, the DAV American Legion, a 4-H Leader, a member of the Arkansas State Fair Board and was presented an Honorary Chapter Farmer degree. He served in the U. S. Marines during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Esther Daily McDonald of Holly Springs; two sons, Charles "Eddie" McDonald of Camden and Bo McDonald of Greenwood, S. C.; two daughters, Judy Foster and Genna Hargis, both of Camden; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., March 27, at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. L. Smith officiating. Burial was in Sparkman Cemetery by Benton Funeral Home, Inc. Memorials may be made to the Youth and Scholarship Board, Masonic Grand Lodge, 700 Scott Street, Little Rock, AR 72203.
