Mrs. Elpha Elizabeth Wood, 76, of Rt. 6 El Dorado, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born July 18, 1889, in Fordyce, Ark., the daughter of Martha Harris and Thomas Adam Jeanes. She had lived in El Dorado for the past 10 years after moving here from Fordyce and was a member of the Stoney Point Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Charlie Otto Wood of El Dorado; three sons, Stg. Wendell Wood, with the U. S. Army stationed in Germand, Tom A. Wood of Bridge City, Tex., and Abner H. Wood of El Dorado; six daughters, Mrs. Raymond Jacobs of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. Richard Kochn and Mrs. William McMan both of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Lesley Cable of Orange, Tex., Mrs. Woodrow Garlington, Fordyce, and Mrs. Kenneth Gillespie of Pine Bluff; one brother, Guy Jeanes; 25 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Stoney Point Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Stoney Point Cemetery under the direction of Benton Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Reece Kervin, John Herring, Crawford Reynolds, Burke Hodnett, Tommy Fracier and Neal Faucett. Honorary pallbearers include Aubury Green, Neal Barnes, Herman Scroggins, White Wells, Clarence Wells, and Roy Scarbourgh. The body will remain at Young's until 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon when it will be taken overland to Benton Funeral Home Chapel. (The El Dorado Times - November 7, 1964)
