Flora Pauline Kirkpatrick Crouch, 101, of New Berlin, Ill., formerly of Pocahontas, died March 20, 2009, in Springfield, Ill.

Born April 3, 1907, at Imboden, she was the daughter of Riley and Alice Kirkpatrick. She lived in Pocahontas for 59 years and worked as an engine buildup mechanic at the Walnut Ridge Air Base during World War II. She also worked in the Pocahontas School cafeteria for several years and as a night telephone operator in Imboden for several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otho Crouch, whom she married on June 28, 1929, at St. Louis; a son, Donald Kirkpatrick; a sister, Mary Bender; and a brother, Clark Kirkpatrick.

Survivors include four daughters, Dorothy Helms, Vacaville, Calif., Mona Childs, St. Louis, Patricia Phillips, Memphis, and Sandra Collins, New Berlin, Ill.; two sons, Gerald Crouch, Conway, and Michael Crouch, Sugarland, Texas; a sister, Martha Niehoff, Danville, Ind.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hope Cemetery in Imboden under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.
