Mrs. Nannie K. Courtney, 55, of 703 E. 10th St. in Smackover died Monday afternoon in a local hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Courtney was born Dec. 27, 1910 in Calhoun County and was the daughter of Joseph and Katie Hawkins McKnight. She was a lifelong resident of Arkansas and was a member of the Snow Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, R. T. Courtney of Smackover; five sons, John W. Calloway and Fred M. Caloway, Jerry S. Calloway, James J. Calloway and Michael Calloway, all of Smackover; a daughter; Mrs. T. W. Dixon of Smackover; a brother, Fred McKnight of Little Rock; five sisters, Mrs. Geneva White of El Dorado, Mrs. Beulah Hanna of El Dorado, Mrs. Gertrude Norris of Alexandria, La., and Miss Estella McKnight and Mrs. Myrtle Jackson of Little Rock; and three grandchildren. Funeral services have been announced for Wednesady at 10:30 a.m. at Joyce City Baptist Church with the Rev. Ross Williams and the Rev. H. K. Davis officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery, near Hampton, under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Active pallbearers will include L. D. Schultz, J. H. Boren, George Sneed, E. G. Cogburn, D. D. Shores and E. L. McCracken. Honorary pallbearers will be R. Tucker, the Rev. James Biram, Dr. George Warren, Bobby Bounds and enmployes of Phillips Petroleum Co. The body will remain at the mortuary until two hours before the funeral. (The El Dorado Times - January 11, 1966)
