Ernest J. Barner, 88, of Hampton died Saturday May 3, 2008 at the Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden. Born July 31, 1919 at Bearden, he was the son of the late Franklin and Rosa Gammill Barner. Mr. Barner worked for the Arkansas Highway Department and was a member of the Hampton Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by one son, Bradley Barner; one daughter, Melissa Barner, a grandson, Justin Strickland, five brothers and two sisters. Survivors are his wife, Una Vee Sanders Barner of Hampton; one step-son, J. D. Oliver of Hampton; one daughter, Roxie Barner of Texas; one brother, Nick Barner of Delight; three sisters, Pearl Stonecipher of Ft. Worth, TX, Rosemary Barner of Camden, Daphne Bennett of Camden; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Benton Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday at the Hampton Church of CHrist with Rev. Roy Stringfellow and Rev. Jerry Berley officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Hampton.
