Myrtle - October 11, 1895 - December 7, 1970
Mrs. Myrtle Wingfield Carpenter, 75, of Stephens, wife of J. P. Carpenter, died Monday morning in a Camden hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Carpenter was an active member of Stephens United Methodist Church for many years, and served in many district offices of the work. She was also associated with the A.F.W.C. and various civic clubs of Stephens, and was a charter member of the Culture Club. Besides her husband, Mrs. Carpenter is survived by one son, John Phillip Carpenter of New Orleans; one brother Ralph Wingfield of Shreveport, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Anna D. Simms of Springhill, La., and Mrs. Ola Dodson of Magnolia; two grandsons, Mark and Phil Carpenter of New Orleans. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the First Methodist Church of Stephens with burial in Magnolia cemetery. Smith Funeral Service of Stamps is in charge of arrangements.
