James Humphrey Ramsey, 87, a retired farmer of Smackover Rt. 1 died in an El Dorado hospital at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, he was born in Union Parish, La., April 1, 1888 son of John and Susie Austin Ramsey and moved to Union county, Arkansas in 1910 where he has lived since that time. Mr. Ramsey was a member of the Sandyland Baptist church. Survivors are the wife Mrs. Florence Ramsey, four daughters, Mrs. H. F. Dumas and Mrs. Claude E. Love, El Dorado, Mrs. J. N. Tinsley and Mrs. J. C. Holloway, Smackover, four sons, W. A. Ramsey, Iredell, Texas; Clifford R. Ramsey, Marsten Ramsey and Thelton Ramsey all of Smackover; one brother John Ramsey, Little, La. Thirty-seven grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Sandyland Baptist church by Rev. A. W. Waller, pastor, assisted by Rev. J. Alvin Rester. Burial will be in Rehobeth cemetery by Forbis-Mathis Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be J. N. Tinsley, J. B. Tinsley, Max Love, James Dumas, Billy Murphy, Bloomer Murphy, Doyle Holloway and Royal Lee Holloway. (Camden News - June 1, 1955)
