Martha Nell Wilber, 81, of Crossett, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 18, 1942, to her parents, Tommy and Willie V. Nixon Bardin, and was a 1960 graduate of Crossett High School.

Martha's passion for education led her to earn a bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas at Monticello, majoring in English and minoring in French. She dedicated herself to shaping young minds as a teacher in schools across Arkansas and Louisiana, including teaching French in her hometown of Crossett. Martha's commitment to her students went beyond the classroom; she was known for her boundless generosity and willingness to go the extra mile to support those in her care.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Martha enjoyed decorating for the holiday seasons, preparing meals for her family and friends, playing piano, and especially reading, often reading multiple books at the same time.

Martha and her husband of thirty-three years, David M. Wilber, Sr., resided in both Crossett, AR and DeRidder, LA, where they could share in the lives of their children and grandchildren.

A woman of unwavering faith, Martha's love was apparent to all who knew her. Her love for her kids and grandchildren knew no bounds. She was their biggest supporter and most fervent cheerleader.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David M. Wilber, Sr.; two brothers, Herbert Gathright and Steve Bardin; and two sisters, Tommie Jean Jennings and Darlene Wolfe.

She leaves behind four daughters, Miki Goodwin (Phil) of Hamburg, Wendy Hoover (Tim) of Emmet, AR, Tommie Ann Moffatt (Todd) of Hamburg, and Joy Doss (Mitch) of Paragould, AR; three stepsons, David Wilber, Jr. (Kris), Shane Wilber (Tammy), and Kevin Wilber (Lynette); and two stepdaughters, Terri Lockner (Kenneth), and Marie Lambert (Ray); along with one sister, Mary Brantley; and one brother, Jimmy Gathright both of Crossett; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 27th, at Medders Funeral Home, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett, with Bro. Mitchell Doss, officiating. Pallbearers are Phil Goodwin, Todd Moffatt, Tim Hoover, Kevin Wilber, Shane Wilber, and Ross Allen. Honorary pallbearers are Zachary Hoover, Josh and Luke Goodwin, Dustin Moffatt, and Isaac, Micah, and Noah Doss.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., at Medders Funeral Home prior to the service.
