Dr. Charles Wayland Graves, 77, of 1000 N. Madison Ave., died at his home Tuesday night. Born Feb. 20, 1894 in Pine Bluff, he was the son of William Henry and Olive Virginia McFadden Graves. He attended public schools in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. Following his graduation in 1921 from Universal Chiropractic College, Pittsburg, Pa., Dr. Graves entered practice in Marshall,Tex., later moving to Hot Springs. In 1923 he moved to El Dorado where he practiced his profession until his death. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He served as president of the Arkansas Chiropractic Association and the Arkansas State Board of Examiners and as vice president and also president of the El Dorado Lion's Club. In recent years, Dr. Graves did post graduate work at Spears Chiropractic Sanitarium in Denver, Colo. and for the past 10 years he had attended the chiropractors annual educational seminar. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lena Grady Ledbetter Graves, EL Dorado, two daughters, Mrs. Peggy Jean Ream, Gardena, Calif., and Mrs. Jack Hensley, Lincoln, Neb., four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Alan Abraham officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Pallbearers will be P.M. Reynolds, Ralph L. Reynolds, W. A. Ledbetter, William Ledbetter, Dr. Dewey Shirley and Dr. H. J. Havlik. Honorary pallbearers will be L. E. Tennyson, John Henry and all members of the Chiropractor Association.
