Died Jan 7, 2025
Erma Elizabeth Hays, age 83, lifelong resident of the Bayou Meto Community, passed away peacefully at her home with her family on January 7, 2025.
Erma lived her entire life in the Bayou Meto community. Her greatest love was spending time with her family. Her most favorite adventures occurred during her years as an antique dealer. She worked in a variety of shops as well as attending shows throughout the country. She was known for her green thumb which produced a fabulous flower garden. She also had a love for reading which she instilled in her children and grandchildren. Feeding and watching the birds on her front porch provided many hours of enjoyment and entertainment. In later life, Virgil Flowers, her Maine Coon cat, became a cherished companion. He provided lots of entertainment, antics, and stories to share with family and friends.
Erma was preceded in death by son Steven H Hughes, parents Ela Mae and Henry Williamson, and brother John (JL) Williamson.
Erma is survived by her son Tim Hughes with wife Shannon and their son Elijah; her daughter Amanda Hughes with husband Mark, their daughter Meagan and her children James and Mackenzie, their son Jackie and his son Bjorn; her daughter Sandy Adams with husband Tony; her son Steven’s children Matt with wife Andrea and their daughters Meredith and Scarlett, and Stevie with husband Robbie and their sons Ace and Archer. She is also survived by her sister Iva Kay Hasley (Glenn); her brother Chuck Williamson; her sister-in-law Dean Williamson; her nieces and nephews Michelle (John), Melanie, Mark, and Mike; and her great-niece Lindsay.
