Frazer Funeral Home - Warren, Arkansas
Billy Robert Powell, 90, passed away on August 10, 2020 in Warren, Arkansas.
He was born on February 17, 1930 in Warren, Arkansas to Buford and Blanche Powell. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Larry, and a sister Jerri Sparks. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Gaylia; two sons, Steve (Linda) and Scott (Rhonda); two grandchildren, Courtney Powell (Chris) and Whitney Stepp (James); five great-grandchildren, Rowen, Kolby, Lily, Dylan, and Zach; and one brother Kerry.
Billy was a member of the Warren First Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and sang in the choir. He served in Korea from 1955 through 1956. He worked at the Bradley Mill in Warren. He started at the Post Office in Warren in 1960 and retired from there in 1988. He loved hunting, fishing, and wood working. By example, he taught his two boys patience, understanding, and how to be a loving husband. He always knew the importance of doing things right the first time even if it took a little more time and effort. His stories of childhood were so vividly described, one would believe it to be part of their own memory. He was a Lumberjack fan and a Razorback fanatic.
We will miss his humor and his love of life. He did it right. He did it well.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the mission fund of the First Baptist Church in Warren.
Graveside service was at Oakland Cemetery on Thursday, August 13 at 10:00 am under the direction of Frazer’s Funeral Home, with Rev. Brent Powell officiating. Pallbearers were Kip Reep, Gary Powell, Chris Powell, Steve Powell, Scott Powell and Brent Powell.
