Sep 24, 1929 - Dec 24, 2024

Kenneth Gene Gibson, 95, of Pettigrew; passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Pettigrew. He was born Tuesday, September 24, 1929, at Yale; to James and Ruth Seals Gibson.

Kenneth was highly regarded by those around him. His excellent memory of earlier times and people was widely known and will be missed by many. He mainly worked in the timber industry, but for several years worked at the University of Arkansas' university farm.

Kenneth was an exceptional person in his depths of decency and goodness and in the respect and appreciation of others around him. Few, these days, must contend with the tragedies Kenneth faced in his life, and even fewer able to deal with such difficulties with his quiet acceptance and good spirit. He grew up poor and never had a lot, but he was quick to share with others what little he had. He felt deeply for the difficulties others face but seldom spoke of his own. Reluctant to speak ill of others, he was always regretful on hearing of troubles or wrong doings of those he knew and was always hopeful for their recovery or improvement.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hazel Maxine Bowling; his parents, James and Ruth Gibson; two young sons, Jerry Lynn and Ricky Dewayne; a sister, Hazel; and four brothers, Leon, Lester, Burldean, and Lonnie.

He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Arletha and Peggy Sue; one brother-in-law, Lloyd Bowlin; honorary daughter, Shelia Stark; five honorary grandchildren, Zac (Victoria), Nate (Debbie), Kaleb, Ethan (Bree), and Destinee; and eleven honorary great-grandchildren whom was a joy of his life.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 4th, at 11am, at the Pettigrew School Building.

Services entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
