John P. Telles, 88, of Royal, Arkansas, passed away April 16, 2016. He is predeceased by his daughter Rita Telles, his mother Francisquita Preciado, and his father Eselso W. Telles.

He is survived by his wife Wanda Telles; a son Derrick Telles and his wife Betty Telles, a stepson Rick Conrad and his wife Lucy Conrad, a daughter Alice Franco and her husband Joe Franco, a son Peter Telles and his wife, and a son Art Telles; grandchildren Briana Casali and her husband Ariel Casali, Dustin Conrad, Christopher Conrad (deceased) Joe Franco, Ginger Franco, James Franco, Terry Telles, Stacy Telles; two great-grandchildren, Ben Telles and Kaia Telles; and two sisters Frances Franco and Elisa Arenas.

The seventh son of eleven siblings, John was born in Bent, New Mexico. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII before settling in Oakland, CA. There he met his wife of 56 years, Wanda, and grew the company they founded together, Jonda Industries, a manufacturer for NASA. In 1969, they settled in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and purchased Town & Country Heating and Air, which he would operate until the age of 85, spending the final, and in his words, most enjoyable, decade of his professional life working alongside his son, Derrick. John proclaimed often and even proudly that he had no hobbies. His greatest source of fulfillment was found in the lifelong relationships he developed with his customers, many of whom became close friends, the joy in raising his children and grandchildren, and, most of all, his devotion to his “honey,” Wanda, with whom he leaves a legacy of family, faith, hard work, and love.

Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Thursday April 21st at Hot Springs Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be 12:00 PM Friday April 22nd at Morning Star Cemetery with Military Honors.
