Funeral services for Carl Merle HIXSON, 95, of Muldrow are being held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Nazarene in Muldrow, with the Revs Wayne Strange and Johnnie Harrison officiating. Burial is in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. Mr. HIXSON was born Jan. 20, 1903, in Paris, Ark., to Luther Gerome HIXSON and Annie Mae (TURNTINE) HIXSON. He died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, in Fort Smith. He married Zelma Eula JACKSON July 3, 1925, in Fort Smith. She preceded him in death Feb. 25, 1978. Survivors include two daughters, Myrl and Atha; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Everett and Waydron; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
MULDROW -- Carl Merle Hixson, 95, of Muldrow died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, in Fort Smith. He was retired from DeSoto-Ward Furniture Factory as a furniture pattern maker. A charter member of the Church of Nazarene in Muldrow, he was a former Sunday school superintendent, served on the church board and as treasurer, and sang in the church choir and quartet. He was the widower of Zelma Eula Jackson Hixson. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Nazarene in Muldrow with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Muldrow. He is survived by two daughters, Myrl Fargo of Muldrow and Atha Johnson of Fort Smith; two brothers, Everett of Tahlequah, Okla., and Waydron of Fort Smith; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nazarene in Muldrow.

Zelma Jackson and Carl Hixson were married on July 3, 1925 in Sebastian County, AR by T. A. Norris, County Judge.
