Donna Rae Driver Schmelzer, of Little Rock, died Friday, April 16, 2010, at the age of ninety.
She was born on January 13, 1920, in Osceola, Arkansas.
She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church and a graduate of University of Arkansas. She will be remembered as a beloved mother and grandmother, not only by her own children and grandchildren, but also by the many she loved and embraced as her own.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Richard Schmelzer; her son, Richard Schmelzer; her parents Ely and Jessie Driver; three brothers and a sister.
She is survived by her daughter Donna Rae Grainger and son-in-law, Scott Grainger, of Cary, North Carolina; her daughter Dana Blackwell of Little Rock; her sister Bonnie Jean Kendrick of Shelby, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Lauren Harrington, Scott McCutcheon, Ric Schmelzer, Erin Tripcony, Amy Valley, Ashley Johnson and Julia Blackwell; ten great-grandchildren and devoted friend, Paul Vancura.
Funeral service will be Thursday, April 22, 2010 ,at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth Funeral Home, 5800 West 12th, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204 (501) 661-9111.
