Mildred "Lucille" Bailey Holter of Scott passed away peacefully on June 14, 2010 at the age of 94. She was a kind, compassionate woman who was very grounded in her family. She was born in Woodson, Arkansas on August 9, 1915 to parents William Madison Bailey and May Bell King Bailey. She worked in the shipyards in Oregon during World War II as a welder and at Teletype in Little Rock for over 20 years. She retired from Tetetype in 1980. She was affectionately known to all as "Grandma".
Mrs. Holter was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, W. O. Holter; her infant granddaughter, Karen Sue Minick; three brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include her son, J. Russell Holter of North Little Rock; her daughter, Maebelle Holter Minick (Juston) of Scott; her brother, Roger Bailey (Shirley) of Scott; her grandchildren, Jerry Holter (Donna), David Holter (Frankie), Eddie Holter (Shanna), Holly Minick Benham (Randy), and Sheri Minick Handley (Trent). Great-grandchildren include Felicia May (David), Amanda Castillo (Richard), April Holter, Thomas Holter, Lauren Benham, Abby-Grace Benham, Cordell Holter, Shania Holter, Henry Handley and Juston Handley; one great-great-grandchild, James Castillo.
Our beloved Grandma loved fishing, cooking, quilting and being involved with family. In the past she was involved with the Teletype Pioneers program making huggie bears for children in crisis.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel (501) 224-8300 with Gary Minick officiating. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
