Maxine Beth Hood Hart, 69, was born January 8, 1943 in Altus, Arkansas.
She passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was the oldest of two daughters of Eldred and Alice Elizabeth Sykes Hood and grew up in Fort Smith.

She was a 1960 graduate of Fort Smith High School. Maxine worked as a secretary at Boost Human Development Services in Fort Smith for 20 years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of the Cavanaugh Free Will Baptist Church in Fort Smith.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Jamie Sorrels, Russellville; Beth's father, Don Hart, Fort Smith; a sister, Becky Orwell and husband David, Houston, TX; parents, Eldred & Alice Hood, Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Vendee Moore & husband Keith, Melanie Sorrels, Jackson Sorrels, all of Russellville; nieces, Shari Kitz miller & husband J.R., Houston, TX, Dee Blair & husband William Houston, TX.

Funeral will be at 2:00PM, Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Edwards Funeral Chapel in Fort Smith (201 North 12th Street). The service will be officiated by her son-in-law, Jamie Sorrels, her grandson, Jackson Sorrels, and her grandson-in-law, Keith Moore.
Entombment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
