Merle Edds, age 99, of Taylor, formerly Glenwood, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024.
She was born on June 9, 1925 in Caddo Gap. She was the youngest child of James Jonathan Short and Eula Mae Gladden Short. She is preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers, Lloyd Short, Leo Short, and James Short, Jr.; her husband, Earle Edds; her son-in-law, Julian Hardy; and her great-great-grandson, Jasper Hardy.
Merle married Earle Edds and they spent many loving years together as they built their life together. She was a member of Caddo Gap Baptist Church. She loved to garden, always having a huge vegetable garden and kept plants all over her home. Merle loved to cook, always making a huge meal when she knew her family was coming and baking her famous chocolate chip cookies that everyone would fight over. Merle loved to spoil and spend time with her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Jeanette Dunlap of North Carolina; her daughter, Patricia Hardy of Taylor; her three grandchildren and their spouses, Timothy and Melissa Hardy, Leah and Lonny Morgan, and Jimmy and Amy Dunlap; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and wonderful friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to services at Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joe Ray Short officiating.
Interment will be held at Mount Tabor Cemetery.
