August 31, 1943 - August 30, 2017

Nancy Lee Vondrak Clayton, 73, of Warren, AR, died Wednesday, August 30th, 2017, in Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, due to complications following heart surgery.
She was born August 31st, 1943, in Chicago, Ill, a daughter of the late Edward Victor Vondrak and Rose Komarek Vondrak. Her early religious training was in the Lutheran Church in Chicago. She graduated from Gage Park High School in Chicago, Ill, in 1961. She was then employed with the civil service in Chicago as a secretary, where she met her husband, Cliff Clayton, whom she married August 25th, 1962.
Nancy's first priority was raising her two daughters and caring for her home and husband. They lived many places during Cliff's 20-year Air Force career, during which Nancy served in the PTA in Jacksonville, AR, and led Girl Scout troops in Biloxi, MS, and Knob Noster, MO.
Cliff and Nancy moved to Warren, AR, in 1976, where she became very active as a volunteer. She was a member of the Warren Band Parents' Association, where she chaperoned band and choir trips, worked in the concession stand and performed in the Warren Band Follies. She was a mainstay at the Helping Hands Food Bank for almost 15 years. She also worked at Mode O'Day clothing store and the water office in downtown Warren.
After Cliff's retirement, he and Nancy built their dream house, which served as a home base for many trips together. They visited their daughters regularly and traveled the US--especially enjoying a 50th anniversary cruise to Alaska. Nancy and her daughters took a trip to the Czech Republic in 2003, where Nancy explored her family heritage.
Nancy attended Westside Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, served in the kitchen and enjoyed working with children in VBS. She dearly loved her church family and participating in the church's monthly outing with the Pairs and Spares group.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford Wayne Clayton; two daughters and their husbands, Donna Rich (Pat) Ogden, UT, and Laura Eady (Fred) Carrollton, GA; two sisters, Barbara Allen, Palos Park, Ill, and Cynthia Mills, Berwyn, Ill; a brother, Edward Vondrak, Jackson, MS; sister-in-law, Dixie Clayton, Warren, AR; two grandchildren, Jake Rich and Clayton Rich, Riverdale, UT; and nieces and nephews, Brooke, Dick and Todd Allen; Amanda and David Mills; Joyce Hammons and Michael Clayton; and their families.
