Lena Maxie Bozeman Carpenter, 87, of Hamburg, passed away peacefully Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett. Mrs. Carpenter was a native of Portland and a lifelong resident of Hamburg. She worked as a Supervisor in the garment industry for 45 years and was a member of the Church of the Redeemer. Mrs. Carpenter enjoyed fishing, tending the garden behind her house, watching soap operas and the Arkansas Razorbacks play football, basketball, and baseball. In addition, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Carpenter was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie W. Carpenter; two sons, James ”Pete” Carpenter and Charles Carpenter; her parents, Tom and Lena Pittman Bozeman; two brothers, Lon C. Bozeman and Fred Bozeman and three sisters, Maedell Bellot, Lydia Stell and Louise Lansdale.
She is survived by two sons, Willie Mac Carpenter of Hamburg and Haskell “Hack” Carpenter and wife, Rita, of Crossett; a daughter-in-law, Donna Carpenter of Hamburg; two sisters-in-law, Lexie Bozeman Estelle and Elizabeth “Liz” Bozeman, both of Hamburg; eight grandchildren, Steven Carpenter (Marcella), Jason Carpenter (Alisha), Melissa Westmoreland (Adam), Stacey Carpenter Martin, Justin Carpenter (Haley), Jennifer Miller (Gregory), Thomas Carpenter (Jennifer) and Richard Carpenter (Erica); numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Friday, November 25, 2022, in the Chapel of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Whiteley officiating. Burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery. Pallbearers are Melissa Westmoreland, Thomas Carpenter, Richard Carpenter, Jason Carpenter, Philip Carpenter, Justin Carpenter and Steven Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers are Lynn Lansdale and Jerry Grant.
Visitation will be 1 - 2 p.m., Friday in the funeral home chapel.
