Ercil Janway Culbreth, 86, of Little Rock died December 11, 2009. She was born June 3, 1923 in Wesson, Arkansas to Henry Thomas Janway and Carrie Bell Allen Janway. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Henry Wilson Culbreth. She is survived by her sons, Henry A. Culbreth of ElDorado, Cecil W. Culbreth and his wife, Patti, of Springfield, Missouri, Tim Culbreth and his wife, Sallie, of Hot Springs, and Rick Culbreth of Little Rock, Arkansas, her grandchildren, Alecia Balduf, Katrina Gray, Heleena Culbreth, Emily Woods, Natalie Culbreth, Laura Burrow, Wayne Culbreth, Suzanne King, Anne Quinn, and Daniel Culbreth, seven great-grandchildren, her sisters, Dorothy Lierly, Frances Davis, and Janette Marrs, her brother Ray Janway, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Rev. Culbreth lived a rich, satisfying life filled with a variety of experiences. She began her ministry while she was still in her teenage years. She, along with her husband, served as pastor to several churches in Louisiana and Arkansas. She also trained as a nurse. She spent several years in overseas missionary ministry in the Philippine Islands. During that time she was able to serve many members of the American armed forces serving in Viet Nam and the Philippines. She was also privileged to minister to returning POW’s when they were released from prisons in North Viet Nam. After returning to this country, she continued to use her ministry and nursing skills working in colleges and church youth camps. She was also employed for several years as a nurse in local nursing homes. Even after her retirement, she continued weekly ministry in local nursing homes and was able to bring joy and cheer to countless residents. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 16th, at Trinity Assembly of God Church, I 430 and Cantrell Road, with Rev. Tony Jones and Rev. E. Joe Wilmoth, officiating. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th. Street, Little Rock (501) 661-9111.
