Teachout, Morris William, 89, passed away, Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

Morris (Bill) was born in Rockford, Illinois in March of 1927 to Dwight and Elsie Teachout. He graduated from Rockford East High School, class of 1945. He enlisted in the Navy in April of that same year and was assigned to the Peter H. Burnett Liberty Ship as a Motor Machinist Mate. He had many adventures in the navy but the most harrowing was when the drive shaft of the ship broke during a typhoon and they saved the ship from capsizing by raising a cargo tarp up in the rigging to act like a sail and turn with the wind.

After his Honorable Discharge in August of 1946 he attended the University of Illinois and graduated in 1950 with a BSME. He started his professional career as a Sales Engineer with Texaco Lubricants Company and worked there for 40 years. He was known as the area expert when help was needed to find information about how the company's products worked for the many types of equipment their customers used. In his retirement years he worked as a delivery driver for First Bank, trained with the IRS and helped people in need with their taxes and worked in local voting poles during elections.

Beloved husband of the late Fay Teachout (nee Zacharias); loving father of Julie Teachout, Timothy Teachout, Michael (Jana) Teachout, and Susan (Rick) McKeone; adoring grandfather of Samantha Teachout, Danielle Teachout, Rick (Lanea) McKeone, Zach McKeone, and Lyndsey McKeone; loving great-grandfather of Lucas Mintle, Colton and Tatum McKeone; dear uncle, cousin, and friend of many.
