*When Oscar Lafayette Cate was born on September 22, 1835, in Athens, Tennessee, his father, Simeon, was 34 and his mother, Mary, was 29. He married Martha Ann Wallace in 1857 in Tennessee. They had eight children in 14 years. He died on January 14, 1912, in Haskell, Arkansas, having lived a long life of 76 years, and was buried there.
*When Martha Ann Wallace was born on February 9, 1834, in Monroe, Tennessee, her father, James, was 35, and her mother, Bridget, was 32. She married Oscar Lafayette Cate in 1857 in Tennessee. They had eight children in 14 years. She died on January 5, 1914, in Saline, Arkansas, having lived a long life of 79 years, and was buried in Haskell, Arkansas.
