Julianne "Judy" JOHNSON NOTTAGE

Second Presbyterian Church Columbarium Cemetery
Pulaski County,
Arkansas

Sep 15, 1934 - Jul 27, 2024

Julianne “Judy” Nottage, age 89, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on July 27, 2024. Julianne was born September 15, 1934 in Prescott, Arkansas, to Lewis J. “Red” Johnson and Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson.

She graduated from University of Arkansas in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. She taught elementary school in Denver, Colorado; Albuquerque, New Mexico and Little Rock, Arkansas.

From 1972 through 1982 she was Director of Arkansas Green Thumb, an older worker program funded by the U.S. Dept of Labor. She also directed the expansion of the program into Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama and Louisiana. It was during this time she met her husband, Paul Nottage. She moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1982, to his hometown and worked for a weatherization program for low income families. She and Paul were happily married and were a perfect match! Once retired, they enjoyed traveling and spending time with each other. After his death she returned to Little Rock and spent time with her family. She liked reading mysteries and histories, working crossword puzzles, feeding the birds and tending her plants and flowers on the patio. Every Saturday she would go shopping and out to lunch with her girls. She was also very good at just “piddling” around.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Paul E. Nottage, U.S. Army, RET., parents Lewis J “Red” Johnson and Elizabeth V. Johnson, brother Lewis James “Jim” Johnson Jr. and her big orange cat Tigger.

She is survived by her 2 wonderful daughters, Kelianne Stroman (Alan), Mala Munford (John), grandsons Justin Stroman (Erin), Andrew Stroman, great-granddaughter Charlotte E. Stroman, brother Tom Johnson, niece Kathy Johnson, and nephews Scott Johnson and Thomas Johnson.

The family would like to thank Homewell Care for their compassionate care during the last several months and special thanks to her unfaltering personal companion, Barbara Solee.

A Memorial Remembrance Celebration will be held on September 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow at Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Dr., Little Rock, Arkansas. Interment in the church’s Prayer Garden Columbarium will precede the service.
