Karen Joyce Simmons, age 79, of Vilonia, Arkansas passed away on July 1, 2024. She was born in Morrilton, Arkansas on May 29, 1945 to parents John Alvin Burks and Erma (Hogue) Burks who preceded her in death. Karen is also preceded in death by her granddaughter Shannen Simmons.
Karen graduated from Nemo Vista High School and was the Valedictorian for the Class of 1962. She grew up in Center Ridge, Arkansas and resided in Mabelvale, Arkansas until she and her husband, Roy, relocated to Vilonia, Arkansas in 2015. Karen worked at Sears for over 30 years and was a valued employee. In her spare time, she enjoyed flea market shopping, traveling, and going to the casino. Above all, Karen loved being a mother and grandmother. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by those she held close to her heart.
Karen is survived by her husband Roy Simmons; two children Alicia Neppl (AJ) and Gregory Simmons (Renee); grandchildren Brittney Montalvo (Allen), Maci Neppl, and Natalie Neppl; great-grandchildren Connor Shannnon Montalvo and Athena Montalvo; her sister Phyllis Sims (Eddie); along with a host of extended family and many friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 10:00am in the chapel at A Natural State Funeral Service in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
