Dany Tanalepy passed away at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) hospital on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at around 11:15 p.m. She was born February 2, 1946, in Jember, East Java, Indonesia, as daughter of Jacobus Bernard Gerardus Stock (German-born), and Poniyem (native Indonesian). Dany graduated from high school in Jember, and then attended Business Academy in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. There she married Albert Johan Karel Gerrit Tanalepy and on December 10, 1965 they began their married life in Surabaya. Dany was a business woman and operated both a beauty salon and a restaurant. Later, together with Albert, she managed a companies in import/export as well as a real-estate project development. She continuously volunteered for an organization against illiteracy among women. In 1994 Albert was summoned to return to his homeland to end political instability. There he became the Village Leader/King (or "Raja Tuhaha") in Maluku. Dany followed her husband and devoted herself to the role of "Ibu Raja Tuhaha." Dany loved and supported her husband for 43 years until his death in 2008 in Long Beach, CA. In 2009 Dany joined her children in the United States, spending and enjoying her precious life with her children, grandchildren and friends. Dany enjoyed attending church regularly until her health began to slowly fail her. In California she attended the New Life Community Church, while in Arkansas she attended The Church of Jesus Christ - El Shaddai. She has numerous hobbies, including singing, reading, and writing, but enjoyed cooking most of all and was known for her exceptional skills in the kitchen with traditional Indonesian food. She was grateful and proud to be a church singer as well as a 'Swim-Oma/grandma'. She is survived by her only son: Harold "Salomo" Tanalepy of Sacramento, California, three daughters: Novi "Nona" (Irwandi) Sitepu of Bryant Arkansas, Regina "Kezia" Tanalepy (Theo Prawiro) of Surabaya, Indonesia, and Zefanya Tanalepy (Charles) Slocum of Benton Arkansas; and six grandchildren: Joseph and Quincey (Fanya), Jessica (Kezia), Phoebe, Oliver, and Trevor (Nona), and Evarista (Harold). She is survived by her half-brother Giro Budiono and half-sister Tris Siswanto. She's also survived by her honorary daughters Verra Puspitawatie (Winston Harianto), Derika Loupatty, and honorary granddaughter Michelle (Vera). She is preceded in death by her loving husband Albert, her dear sisters Anna Stock and Vony Karunio, and both parents.
