Wife Martha Whitington Allen; children included Cindy Warriner, Jane Hall, Bill Allen

Paul Allen was a pilot. The inscription says, "Coming in on a Wing and Prayer," which is what Martha often said when he landed in cow pastures. His 1st plane was a Piper Cub. His 2nd plane was a 1948 Stinson, which he flew until the early 1980s.

For many years, he was the owner of Paul Allen Refrigeration Co. in Little Rock, AR. Before that, he worked at the 555 Company in Little Rock and played on their baseball team. He loved to hunt and fish. He liked to build useful gadgets like an automatic dog food and water bowl feeder for the family dogs and automatic bird bath filler (made with a toilet bowl float). He installed central air conditioning, by himself, in of his family's homes on Cross St and Gaines St. in Little Rock. He had excellent math skills and could fix almost anything.

Martha was the oldest daughter of Dr. Otto (Sr) and Minnie Lou Hulsey Whitington. Rev. Otto Whitington was a Baptist minister and served at Immanuel Baptist Church until his death in the early 1950s.

Martha was an artist, who began painting as a child. She painted with oils, then switched to acrylic paint later in life. She also began playing the piano as a young child and continued throughout her life. When her father was the preach at small churches, she and he sister, Mary, were the church pianists. Her other creative talents included crocheting, sewing, and various crafts, such as making rag dolls for her children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was loved playing games, such as Scrabble, Yahtzee, and various card games.

At the age of nine, she fell from a second story window and landed on her feet with no apparent serious injuries. However, she developed arthritis as a child and suffered with it her entire life. To keep her fingers limber enough to paint, she played the piano. She also had a lot of health problems and had multiple operations for various conditions. These never slowed her down, though. She always active and cheerful with a great sense of humor.
