Barbara Louise McBee, age 73, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on July 10, 2012. She was born on April 16, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Oliver Volz and Irene Knudsen Volz. She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband, George McBee. Barbara was a loving mother of four, "Mema" of eight grandchildren and "Great-Grandma" of two. She retired from the Hot Springs School District after many years as a teacher's aide and school bus driver. She was known best by the children as "Mrs. B", who will affectionately remember her in the school room as well as on her school bus. Barbara will always be in our hearts and thoughts forever and missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Susan Marshall of Hot Springs; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and Don Washam of Bonnerdale, Kelly and Terry Bates and Kris Faulkner, all of Hot Springs; her grandchildren, Missy McKibben, Bryan Faulkner, Desiree Washam, Tyler Bates, Dale Shanek, Megan Bates, Matthew Bates and Allyson Washam; three great-grandchildren, Mia McKibben, Mason McKibben and Brenya Klee; one brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Linda Volz of St. Peters, Missouri; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jackie and Ron Roeder of Hazelwood, Missouri and Patty and Mike McGaughey of Florissant, Missouri; nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 13, 2012, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Rev. David Carpenter and Rev. Wilbert Bates officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday evening at the funeral home. Interment will be in Morning Star Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Pallbearers will be Bryan Faulkner, Matthew Bates, Dale Shanek, Tyler Bates and Bill Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Mercy Hospital 4 West nursing staff, Dr. Martin A. Koehn, Dr. Diane Bodeman and Arkansas Hospice nurses. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
