James Carl Neighbors, who resided near Paris, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born July 20, 1936 in Bauxite, Arkansas to the late Grady Neighbors and Gertrude (Ragan) Neighbors. He was 78 years old. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Phillip Neighbors.

James was a retired rodeo stock contractor and a cowboy. He was past president of the International Pro Rodeo Association (IPRA) and was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA). He attended First United Methodist Church in Paris.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31st, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Paris, with Mr. Neal Davis officiating the service. Visitation will follow immediately after the service.

Memorial graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1st, at Fowler Cemetery in Paron, Arkansas, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Paris.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, George Ann (Smithers) Neighbors; three sons, Odest Neighbors of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Howard Neighbors and wife Sheila of Benton, Arkansas and Ray Neighbors and wife Ann of Benton, Arkansas; one sister, Carlene Brazil and husband Jerry of Benton, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Jessica Burks of Bentonville, Arkansas and Myles Neighbors of Benton, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.O. Cravens, Ben Jordan, Gerald Smith, Don Sosebee, Tommy Blevins, Bob White, Clayton Cooper, Travis Cooper, Tommy Francis, Jim Khilling, Perry Murdock, Mark Tucker, John Wiggins, Marilyn Jones, and Jason Davis.

*George Ann (Smithers) Neighbors, who resided in Paris, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020, in Paris. She was born March 28, 1938 in Benton, Arkansas, to the late George and Geneva (Drennan) Smithers. She was 82 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Carl Neighbors; a brother, Howard Curtis Smithers of El Centro, California; and a nephew, Brandon Brooke of El Centro, California.

George Ann was a retired rodeo stock contractor, time keeper, and secretary for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), International Pro Rodeo Association (IPRA), Cowboys Regional Rodeo Association (CRRA) and the Arkansas Rodeo Association (ARA). She was also a former Saline County Rodeo Queen in 1955 and Miss Rodeo Arkansas in 1956. She attended First United Methodist Church in Paris. She was loved by many. She worked hard and gave her all to her family and the rodeo world. She is taking her rest now in the loving arms of Jesus.

She is survived by her brother, John Smithers of El Centro; a sister, Janelle (Smithers) Hutter and husband William Hutter of Fort Smith; and stepson, Howard Neighbors and wife Sheila; and grandson, Myles Neighbors. She also leaves behind a pleothera of nieces and nephews from California to North Carolina; Amanda (Smithers) Brooke, Robert Smithers, Aliza Jones, Abby (Smithers) Carter, Allyn Smithers, Madeline (Smithers) Bratton, Sam Smithers; and great nieces and nephews, Autumn, Lucas, Addi, Weston, and Wade.

Celebration of life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8th, at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston. Inurnment will be at Fowler Cemetery at Paron, Arkansas. All arrangements are under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Luckenbaugh, Miles Neighbors, Sam Smithers, Cass Neighbors, Howard Neighbors and Atrell Quick.
