Terry Edward Watson of Black Rock, Arkansas
June 5, 1948 - April 29, 2024
Terry Edward Watson, 75, of Black Rock passed from this life on Monday, April 29, 2024, at his residence. He was born June 5, 1948, in Dumont, Colorado to the late Richard and Martha (Noyes) Watson.
Terry moved to Arkansas in 1951 at the age of three. He attended all twelve years of school as a Black Rock Zebra graduating in the class of 1967. He was an outstanding basketball player, receiving all county, all district, and all state. He went one year of college at Southern Baptist and then we-----------nt into the Navy from 1969 to 1971. He was stationed at San Diego, California and Millington, Tennessee as a seaman two medic. He moved to Rockford, Illinois, married, had a daughter and a son. He worked for the city of Rockford collecting waste. Terry divorced and moved back to Arkansas in 1984.
Terry coached the Black Rock boys’ and girls’ baseball teams as well as Lawrence County Exceptional school kids for several years. He and his brother had a hog farm. He was known for being the “hog skinner”. He could kill and skin a hog in just a few minutes. He and his sister had cattle and he was always doctoring many peoples’ sick animals. On Tuesdays, you could find him at the sale barn. He loved to bottle feed babies then sell them.
In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Farmer; and brother, Raymond Watson.
He is survived by daughters, Tiffany Watson of Illinois and DeDe Watson of Texas; son, Troy Watson of Wisconsin; brother, Richard Watson of Illinois; sisters, Doreen Reynolds of Texas, Lois Watson and Kay Smith both of Black Rock; six grandchildren, Ethan, Erin, Alli, Jacob, Keagan, and Trinity; and sixteen nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 8, 2024, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Walnut Ridge. Burial will take place at a later date.
