Obituary
Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home
Hamburg, Arkansas

Alyce McClerkin McDonald, 95, of Hamburg, died Sunday, November 20, 2022, at her residence. Mrs. McDonald was a native and resident of Visalia, California until her family moved to Monticello in 1929, and after she married in 1946, they moved to Hamburg. She graduated from Monticello High School and attended Arkansas A&M, now the University of Arkansas at Monticello. After all of her children left home, she worked at the Ashley County Health Office as a records clerk. Mrs. McDonald was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Hamburg since 1955, and after her health prevented her from attending services, she often said she wished she could go to church just one more time. She enjoyed being around people, playing bridge, Bunco, and traveling with friends. Mrs. McDonald spent many hours sewing, crocheting, and working puzzles. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She always perked up when they came around, and the grandchildren enjoyed hearing her stories of her teenage years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Dempsy McDonald in 2002; a son, Randy McDonald in 2019; her parents, Floyd and Ina Nolan McClerkin; two brothers, Floyd J. McClerkin, Jr., and Bobby McClerkin.

Mrs. McDonald is survived by a daughter, Susan McDonald Stanley and husband, Mike; two sons, James McDonald and wife, Becky, and Jack McDonald and wife, Debbie, all of Hamburg; 7 grandchildren, Kim Irven, Cindy Bearden, Christie McDonald, Lisa Biggs, Michael Stanley, Jami Hartshorn, and Scott McDonald; 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the Promise Land Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Robin Allen officiating. Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons, grandsons-in-law and great-grandsons. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hamburg, PO Box 352, Hamburg, AR 71646.

Visitation will be 1:45-2 p.m., Wednesday at the cemetery.
