Obituary
Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home
Hamburg, Arkansas

George Edward “Butch” Locke, 85, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died peacefully on March 2 in Hot Springs. He was born on May 20, 1935, in Monticello, Arkansas, the son of Carl Wilson Locke and George Frances
Carpenter Locke. He was a native of Hamburg, Arkansas. Butch was a retired Arkansas State Senator and former owner of numerous businesses. He had a passion for golf and horse-racing. His home in Hot
Springs was just two miles from one of his favorite hangouts, Oaklawn Racetrack. As in all areas of his life, he was on a first-name basis with all the regulars at the track. Butch was an avid sports fan, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks and his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was pone to jumping up and yelling at the TV during televised Hog games.
Butch started as a Freshman on the Arkansas A&M (University of Arkansas at Monticello) football squad in 1953. After graduation from college, he was hired as Head Football Coach in Stamps, Arkansas. He
coached three sports annually before moving back to Hamburg to join his father in the timber and insurance business. Butch was active in the First Baptist Church while living in Hamburg and was proud of his family’s involvement since the church founding. Butch’s greatest moment on the golf course was a hole-in-one in his early 70’s. He loved
collecting lost balls from the golf course ponds and out-of-bounds. The trunk of his car had to be emptied twice from hundreds of golf balls. It is an understatement to say that Butch lived a full life. The guardian angel that seemed to watch over and protect him gave him the freedom to live a life full of fun, adventure, and love with those he touched. His friends over the years in the Hamburg, Little Rock, and Hot Springs area have told many stories of fun and laughter with Butch.
Butch spent his last 15 years with his loving wife, Renee Harrell Locke. Renee was his final angel sent from heaven to love and laugh with him as his health declined. His children wish to express their deepest
appreciation for the gift of Renee’s love and care
for their father. Renee & family wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dawn Walters for her
compassion and love as his caregiver.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Frances Carpenter Locke; a sister, Sara Beth Locke, and the mother of his children, Venda Hahn Locke.
He is survived by his wife, Renee Harrell Locke; his daughters, Carla Locke McCord and husband, Bill, all of Hot Springs, Haley Locke Elliott and husband, Bruce, of Lake Village, and Georganna Locke Faulkner
and husband, John, of Hot Springs; his son, Joe Locke and wife, Sharon, of Little Rock; his stepdaughter, Megan Harrell of Little Rock, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel. Everyone in attendance will be required to wear a mask. Private Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating.

Obituary
Robinson & Fuller Funeral Service
White Hall, Arkansas

Renee “Nay Nay” Harrell-Locke, 68, of Hot Springs peacefully passed on June 21, 2022 to join her Lord and Savior in her forever home.

Dawn Renee Robinson was born on November 19, 1953 in Altheimer, daughter of Fred and Carolyn Fox Robinson. She was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School.

Renee loved taking care of others. She started her career as a buyer for Cohen’s Department Store in Pine Bluff and worked with Artworks in Little Rock for many years before moving to Hot Springs. It was there that she found her true passion of serving by owning and operating a bed and breakfast, Butler Manor, for many years. She sold the business in 2007 but continued to serve her customers until her retirement in 2011.

Renee’s life was marked by the selfless way she served and abundantly, loved people. Her warm smile, tender heart, and generous hospitality were just a few of the characteristics that drew people close to Renee. Renee was a believer in Jesus Christ and gave much of that credit to her grandmother who she spent time with as a child. She was firm in her faith and believed this life was a temporary journey at the mercy of our Lord. Renee was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife and mother. She exceeded every role in her life with grace and grit. She knew when to speak up and when to be quiet. She knew when to give a kind word and how to tactfully deliver the truth. Renee was also able to make even the dullest of moments feel fun. She was a force all of her own. A free spirit with a heart of gold, more precious than rubies. Renee’s’ tenacity, generosity, and never-ending devotion to the ones she loved were both infectious and empowering.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Robinson; and loving husband, George Locke.

Survivors include her daughter, Megan (Zach) Alexander; granddaughters, Joplin Bo Harrell and Vaeda Grace Alexander; step-daughters, Carla McCord (Bill), Haley Elliott (Bruce) and Georganna Faulkner (John); step-son, Joe Locke (Sharon); father, Fred Robinson; sister, Tina Dunlap (David); brother, Robbie Robinson (Toni); nieces, Brooke Dunlap and Loren Robinson; nephew, Tyler Robinson; great-nieces and great-nephews, Gabe, Ava Blake and Avery Kate Robinson; and nine step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

How lovely is your dwelling place,
Lord Almighty!
My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.
Psalms 84

Cremation arrangements were by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors. There will be a book at Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors during regular business hours from Thursday, June 23rd through Wednesday, June 29th, 2022.
