*OBITUARY

Sybil G. Taylor, 81, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away October 21, 2023 in Sherwood, Arkansas

She was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 6, 1942. She was the daughter of Harold and Dorcas Grabke.

She married Robert J. Taylor on September 5, 1987 in Edmond, OK.

Sybil was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Harold Grabke, Ron Grabke, and John Grabke; and sister Jackie Grabke Dudley.

Sybil is survived by her husband, Robert J. Taylor; sisters Priscilla Harrison of Arlington, TX and Nola Grabke of Bethany, OK; brother Steve Grabke of Toledo, OH.

Sybil worked as a legal secretary in several law firms in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas until she retired. Because of her work ethic, she was asked to return to work several times to help temporarily.

Sybil was for several years very involved with the Arkansas Running Klub, running, serving on the board of directors, serving as president, and directing a 5K race. She ran many 5K and 10K races and completed the marathons in Dallas, Memphis, Disney World, and Dublin, Ireland in her fifties. She also hiked the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim trail, 24 miles, with 5,500 feet descent from the North Rim to the river and 4,500 feet climb to the South Rim at the age of 60. The same year, she attempted the Pikes Peak Ascent Race, climbing 10 miles up to an altitude of 11,200 feet, before being turned back at the checkpoint and walked back down. She bravely struggled to overcome a known lung problem as long as she could.

Sybil was a very loving person and enjoyed doing nice things for her nephews, nieces, and other members of her family.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the compassionate care and support by Hospice at home in her final days.
