Dorothy Jean Savage, 79, of Hamburg, died Saturday, June 25, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Savage was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg and the Martinville Community north of Hamburg. She graduated from Hamburg High School in 1961, and she worked as the Office Manager for B&F Martin, Incorporated from the first day it opened its doors in 1978 until just this past week. “Miss Dot,” as she was lovingly called, enjoyed seeing and visiting with all the customers at B&F Martin. Mrs. Savage was a member of Martinville Baptist Church. She was very nurturing at heart and enjoyed taking care of everything from the flowers in her backyard to every family member. She loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy Callaway Martin; four brothers, Jimmy Martin, Thomas R. “Joe” Martin, Freddie Martin, and James Earl “Sonny” Martin and a brother-in-law, Gene Bates.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Lyance “Bo” Savage, Sr. of Hamburg; two sons, Lyance Savage, Jr. and wife, Melanie, of Snyder and Barry Savage and wife, Crystal, of Hamburg; two sisters, Gladys Gulledge and husband, Rev. Edward, and Judy Bates all of Hamburg; two brothers, Bobby Martin and wife Sylvia of Hamburg and Randy Martin and wife, Lacey, of Lake Village; four sisters-in-law, Debbie Martin and Pat Martin, both of Hamburg, Charlene Martin of Crossett and Joy Martin of Hamburg; two grandchildren, Tiffany LeeAnn Savage and Hastin Brady Savage and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Funeral services are 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the Martinville Baptist Church with Bro. Ryan McRae and Bro. Clayton Hales officiating. A private burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Neil Martin, Nick Martin, Xander Gulledge, Zach Pamplin, Paul Gulledge, and Larry Hudson. Honorary pallbearers are John Martin and Brad Martin.
