Evelyn Gertrude Ivy, age 87, of Quitman, AR went to be with Jesus on March 4, 2024. She passed peacefully at home. She was born on Thursday November 5, 1936, in Houston, AL to the late Troy and Laura (Flippo) Henderson.
She is preceded in death by her son Everette Hardin, JR., all her siblings Gene Henderson, Jimmy Henderson, Benny Henderson, James Henderson, Ronnie Henderson, and Betty (Began) Henderson; one grandson Jason David Smoot.
She is survived by her daughters Julie (Black) Kneuven, Tara (Ivy) Smoot and her husband Jack Smoot, Tina Ivy, and one son Wade Ivy and his wife Stephanie Ivy; 11 grandchildren Jonathan Hardin, Syndey Redhorse and wife (Winterhorse), Nate Waterall and wife (Charlene), Jason Waterall and wife (Amber), Caleb Waterall and wife (Carlie), Miranda Pennington and husband (Andrew), and Annie Smoot; eleven great grandchildren Olive Harris, Landon Waterall, Abel Waterall, Isaac Waterall, Ehan Waterall, Maddie Kittrell, Carly Porter, Abbie Pennington, Bianca Pennington, Hadley Waterall, and Everly Waterall; one great great granddaughter Blair Nowlin; along with a host of extended family and dear friends.
Evelyn served faithfully at Free Hill Pentecostal Church in Point Cedar, AR for many years of her life. She always spread her love of Christ with the young and old. She was known for giving rides to the youth to church or Bible school in the community. She never met a stranger and held her friends close to her heart. She was a hard worker and worked at times outside the home. She taught resilience and faith to her children to carry them through life. She was loved and cherished by everyone and will be dearly missed.
A private ceremony will be held to celebrate her life with close friends and family.
