Ruby Gene Guest Taunton was born on October 5, 1922 in Lono, Arkansas. She
was the first child of Clatie Bailey and Martin Guest. She entered her heavenly home on
Sunday, March 22, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Hubert (Sam) Taunton, her daughter,
Edith Taunton, two brothers, Troy Guest of LaPort, Texas and James Guest of Hamburg, and
one sister, Colleen Kuhn of Greenville, MS, and a brother-in-law, Bill Nelms of Ft. Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Guinn and her husband Wayne of El Dorado; her sister
Vyrl Nelms of Ft. Smith; her sister-in-law, Opal Guest of LaPort, TX and her brother-in-law, Percy
Kuhn of Greenville, MS. She was proud of her four grandchildren; Sherry Parker of Calion,
Robert Parker and his wife Debbie of Bar Harbor, Maine; Allyson Hendrix and her husband
Jason of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and her very special grandson Bruce Parker of El Dorado,
who took excellent care of his grandmother for many years. She is, also, survived by six great
grandchildren; Ashley Parker of West Memphis, Cody and Gracie Parker of Bar Harbor, Maine;
Skylar and Charleigh Hendrix of Baton Rouge; Parker East of Calion and numerous nieces
and nephews.
Ruby was a Lab Technician at MacMillian Refinery in Norphlet during WWII. She later joined
Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator and retired from there in 1981. She was a talented
seamstress who could turn a piece of cloth into a work of art. Her travels with family and
friends took her to every state except Hawaii. A bag was always packed in case someone said
"Let's go".
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2015, in the Chapel of Bailey Funeral Home, with Bro. Bob Inmon officiating. Interment will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park, under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, El Dorado.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 24, 2015, 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, El Dorado.
The family wishes to express the most heartfelt gratitude for the excellent care Ruby recieved
from the staff of Life Touch Hospice. A special thanks goes to Berniece Carelock and Sharon
Talley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to LifeTouch Hospice,
Multiple Sclerious Society or a charity of their choice. (Bailey Funeral Home - El Dorado, Arkansas)
