Angie Marlene Bates, age 80 of El Dorado passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. She was born on June 27, 1936 in Chidester, AR to the late Martha Faye Bridges Benton and Thomas Hendrix Benton. Marlene was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of Norphlet, where she formerly taught Sunday school. She was a former dog groomer during the 70's and 80's. She enjoyed painting, riding horses and was an animal lover.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred Lee Bates and a son, Dannon Lee Bates.
Survivors include; one son, Todd Lee Bates of Magnolia; one sister, Janeene Lewis and husband A.D. of Norphlet; sister in law, Nelda Bates of Norphlet and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Bailey Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ron Newberry officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. (Bailey Funeral Home - El Dorado, Arkansas)
